Hello and Welcome

Hello and Welcome to my website. My name is Johnathan Rufus Welsh and I am an Audiobook Narrator and a Voice Over Artist. Let me tell you a little bit about myself and how I came into this Wonderful Industry. I was born in the British Military Hospital in Gibraltar to an English Father, a Yorkshireman and a Spanish Mother from Lucena, Southern Spain. My formative years were spent in Germany, until my parents went to live in Hong Kong in the Far East. I was then put in boarding school in Ramsgate, Kent, England, where I remained until I left, when I was 18.

After a career in Psychiatric nursing and as a Cognitive Behavioural therapist involving a lot of talking, I embarked initially on trying my hand at voice over. Having been told for years that my deep voice might suit voice over or audiobook narration, I began in late 2018.

With some success in voice over, I turned to audiobook narration which has become my passion. To Date March 2026 I have narrated over 100 audiobooks with various publishers and distributors including Tantor Media, OneAudiobooks, ACX, John Marshal Media, Proaudiovoices, Archway Publishing, God Sounds Inc, Crossway, Kharis Publishing, Defender, Author Solutions, Authors Republic, Punch Audio and many others. I particularly enjoy non fiction and as such have been coached by the inimitable Sean Pratt. I also continue to produce voice overs. I am married and live near Belfast Northern Ireland.

On a lighter note, whilst recording a gospel singing album in Atlanta USA, my producer commented, “Man you sound like a tug boat.” And my wife often calls me “the fog horn.”
